At The Chef’s Hat, we believe that all you need to enjoy one of our cooking events is a desire to learn and to laugh. We offer classes on all types of cuisines, for cooks of all skill levels. Even if you’ve never done anything more ambitious than tear the plastic off a prepared dinner and slide it into the microwave, we’re sure you’ll have a great time at our themed cooking events.

Our events range from 2-hour quick classes where you’ll have a chance to prepare (and eat) just a few recipes, to full-day explorations of a cuisine, technique, or type of cooking, during which you’ll prepare multiple recipes, or even a full meal. Whichever class you choose, the fun is built in.

  • In another of our events designed to give you a head start on Thanksgiving preparation, we have combined Desserts and Sides into one big night.  We have many unique recipes designed to up your Turkey Day ante.    The star of the show ... our Pumpkin Tiramisu Trifle will be joined by co-star Maple Bourbon Cream Pie.  For sides you will be delighted by the Sausage and Mushroom Risotto and Roasted Delicata Squash with Cranberry Agrodolce.  And more recipes are in the works. Of course, we will be serving Thanksgiving cocktails to liven up this event.  Apple Cider or Pear Nectar Mimosas along with Spiked Ciders are planned. The event will be held at the Savory Spice Shop in downtown St. Petersburg @ 400 Beach Drive  Suite 173 St Petersburg, FL 33701  (727-290-9893) from 6-8 PM November 5, 2021.
  •   On Thursday, November 18th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM, we welcome The Supper Club members to a laugh and learn cooking event featuring a menu of Korean Appetizers and cocktails. To reserve your spot use this site to register.  You can pay the deposit of $20.00 of the total $40.00 event cost.  The remaining $20.00 will be collected at the event.   The food menu will include:
    • Korean Beef Stir Fry
    • Shrimp Pancakes
    • Korean Fried Chicken (Dakgangjeong)
    The cocktail offerings will include:
    • Watermelon Soju
    • Blue Pineapple Soju

  • Join us Sunday, November 14, from 4-6pm to learn how easy and fun it can be to incorporate plant-based options at your typical turkey day meal. Since Thanksgiving is about family and food, a short tale about the two:

    Becca (our store manager and resident vegan) and her Fiance Jordan technically began cooking vegan for an audience 8 years ago, when they faced the ultimate vegan challenge: Thanksgiving dinner. A holiday that’s true essence is all about the cooking; a packed kitchen, bustling cooks, a chaos that somehow conjures comfort for all. A feast typically very traditional, with no vegan funny business in sight. Alas, after many years of practice, the family now anxiously anticipates their well-prepared veggies, can’t taste anything remotely “vegan” about their potatoes, and have even been known to scarf down and clear out the “meat” option.

    All that to say - you are in good hands at this event. Let us reveal simple ways to create elevated plant-based counterparts to all your favorite traditional Thanksgiving fare. Expect creamy, savory mashed potatoes, leveled-up brussel sprouts, the perfect autumnal chocolate chip cookie, and even vegan gravy. Yes, vegan gravy. I know, it sounds impossible, but let’s all be thankful how easy plant-based cooking is these days with the right instructions...and spices. Beer, wine, and cocktails included.

    Brunch has become a weekend tradition for so many.  The tradition typically means heading to your favorite brunch restaurant or perhaps trying a new one that came as a recommendation – but this book helps home cooks like you create favorite restaurant dishes in the comfort of home and at a fraction of the price. Our anticipated publish date for this book is August 2020.  It will be available on all platforms for eBooks and in hard cover editions.
  • On Halloween Sunday, October 31st we will be in costume and welcoming trick or treaters.  Both young and old are invited to stop by for our homemade candy goodies. We will also get the Halloween off to a great start with our spirits...specialty cocktails and mimosas.  Tasting will be from 12 PM until 4 PM.  NO REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! Try our Spiced Chocolate Truffles, Marshmallow Ghosts or Butterscotch Pumpkin Fudge followed by a Cider Mimosa or Goosebumps Punch for the kids. Recipes for these will be provided as well as discussion on how we made them.
